Project Overview

Unilever needed an internal training film to explain its new UMPD framework. Mind Gym brought me in to help translate complex ideas into a clear, engaging animation.

They were aiming for a 3D look, but building and rigging a 3D character would’ve slowed things down. So I proposed a hybrid approach: a 2D character animated within a 3D environment.

This gave them:

  • The visual depth of 3D

  • The flexibility and speed of 2D animation

  • A style that felt fresh, fun, and easy to update

The final film was character-led, bold, and full of energy, helping teams across Unilever quickly get to grips with UMPD.

The 2D character seamlessly integrates into the 3D space, adding depth to the scene without slowing down production.

  • The 3D environment was kept clean and modular to support rapid iteration.

  • Character expressions and poses were pushed to keep things engaging and easy to follow.

Want this style for your project?

Blending 2D and 3D is a great way to keep production agile without sacrificing visual quality.

Let’s talk about how we can bring your next idea to life.
