Novamont: Compostable Packaging 101 Explainer Video

Client - Novamont, Pepsico
My Role - Direction, Animation, Design and Illustration, Pre Production
Audio - Thomas Williams

Project Overview

Novamont and PepsiCo tasked me with creating an animated explainer that communicates the benefits of compostable materials in sustainable packaging. As a freelance motion graphics designer with a focus on environmental storytelling, I developed a concise, visually clear video that educates consumers and stakeholders alike.

The animation simplifies key sustainability in business examples โ€” breaking down the composting process and showing how biodegradable packaging can return safely to nature. Using clean design, thoughtful narration, and smooth transitions, the result is both informative and engaging.

From script to animation, I managed the full production process, aligning the final output with both brandsโ€™ sustainability goals. This project is a strong example of how motion graphics can translate complex environmental innovation into accessible, actionable content for wide-ranging audiences.

Pre-Production: Storyboarding the vision

Before animation began, the storyboarding phase played a crucial role in shaping the narrative. The goal was to ensure that each sequence effectively communicated the composting process in a way that was both engaging and easy to follow.

๐Ÿ“Œ Visual Planning โ€“ Carefully designed each frame to balance education and entertainment.
๐Ÿ“Œ Motion Considerations โ€“ Mapped out key transitions for a smooth visual experience.
๐Ÿ“Œ Narrative Flow โ€“ Structured the story to introduce compostable packaging concepts step by step.
